Aerzen starts turbo blower business

Turbo blowers are highly efficient low pressure centrifugal compressors for oil-free compression of air. The high-speed turbo blower consists of a single motor-impeller assembly with unique bearings lubricated by air. A pressure rise is created by converting the kinematic energy (speed) from the impeller into potential energy (pressure) in the diffuser.
The operating range, up to 330 m³/min (11.700 cfm) at 400 to1.500 mbar (6 to 22 PSI), is ideal for waste water treatment applications.
The impeller, motor, bearing and VFD are designed in-house for optimum harmonisation and are the key to our high efficiency.

Impeller

The impeller is cast in high tensile strength stainless steel to create an optimized flow path with small blade thicknesses for the best aerodynamics. A cast impeller allows thinner blades to be produced than a standard milling process.
For each combination of pressure and volume we have designed the best 3-dimensional impeller shape. The blades are backswept at the outlet for a broad and stable compressor design with high efficiency.
In addition, we offer single flow (one impeller) as well as double flow stages (two impellers in parallel) to find the best match with our customers demand. All impellers are mounted directly on the motor shaft without any transmission.

Motor

The high-speed permanent magnet motor reaches the highest efficiency in the industry and can therefore be air-cooled (even at high power). The cylinder of the rotor is made of a precious metal for reaching higher speeds (up to 60.000 rpm) and faster acceleration. SmCo magnets are used as they produce very high temperature characteristics.
In combination with our proprietary VFD, the starting current of our motor is under 3%. This directly affects the waste heat generation.

Bearing

The airfoil bearings make the rotor move without any contacting surfaces and uses air rather than oil for lubrication. These bearings are exceptionally suitable for operation in the extreme environment of high-speed motors. The absence of lubricating oil eliminates the risk of oil entering into the compressed air and also reduces the maintenance requirements.

Variable Frequency Drive

The variable frequency drive, which matches optimally to our high-speed motor, enables a wide operating range by continuous monitoring and due to our unique current control a very quick response is produced (high rise-to-surge). The volumetric flow is infinitely variable by changing the speed within the operating limits of the machine.
